Baghdad, 03 August 2024 – In a significant step toward advancing Iraq's development agenda, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Iraq, in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), proudly announces the launch of Iraq's National Development Plan.
This landmark initiative underscores USAID and UNDP’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s sustainable development goals, setting a strategic direction for Iraq’s growth over the coming years. The plan aims to boost the economy, improve infrastructure, and enhance social services. It also advances environmental conservation and sustainable resource management.
"Today, the National Development Plan 2024-2028 comes to establish a developmental path based on a different vision that relies on utilizing the available capabilities of the state and the private sector, acquiring knowledge in its technical and scientific development, and building a social market economy system while adopting permanent reform policies and enhancing international cooperation paths.” says Dr. Muhammad Ali Tamim, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning.
